Dog Hunting at Briar Creek
This Hunter is Nicole Preston, 2008/2009 was her and her husband Todd Preston's first year in Briar Creek. Mrs. Preston had never been dog hunting until that year. This awesome buck, her first buck, was killed in front of some Briar Creek hounds. Congrats to Mrs. Preston for harvesting this awesome buck! Also the Preston's son, Jeff was able to harvest his first buck on a Briar Creek dog drive during the 2008/2009 season, congrats to Jeff as well!(photo is below in photo gallery)
Dog Hunting Rules and Dates.
Deer hunting with dogs will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays during deer firearms season unless otherwise noted in the Club Rules Document. The Chief Huntmaster or his designee is solely in charge of deer hunting with dogs. His directions will be followed explicitly.
Dog Hunting Schedule
Every Wednesday and Saturday; Additional Dog Hunting Days will be set by the Board each year.
Designated dog-hunting areas are:North side of Briar Creek to include all land on both sides of George Perkins Rd. (Gay Boulevard) from Dyes Crossroads to Story Mill Rd. Ruth Rd... South side of Briar Creek-North side of Boggs Academy from Farmers Bridge to Taylor Rd. North Side of Taylor Rd from Boggs Academy to Buck Shot including Beasley Rd and the clear cut next to Beasley Rd. Big Pines North and South Perkins Mill Rd.
All hunters are to wear blaze orange in accordance with State Law.
Only shotgun with buck shot will be used when deer hunting with dogs. No slugs are allowed.
Deer killed on the organized dog hunts will be brought back to the clubhouse, dressed by the killer or his designee.
